That’s pretty cool, would’ve been an awesome experience.
Use to be really into it back in the day, been to Bristol with my wife twice but they didn’t allow passes to the infield.
Been to Bristol quite a few times myself. We went back a few years ago.
Nascar has changed a lot now from back then in the late 90’s when I was involved. I seen Rusty, Dale sr and DW when he was driving the chrome Chevrolet just to name a few. Some nice and willing to talk and some no so much. You’d be surprised of witch drivers who would actually get in there and work on the car. You don’t see that today, pretty rare.

While flipping channels the other day it looked like Bristol was way down on attendance too. Nobody in the bleachers at either end. Didn't it used to have a waiting line to get seats?
I read an article on that the other day - part of the blame they were putting on local hotels raising the rates to 300-400 a night and just the general expense of going to a race has increased. + interest in down. I grew up in Martinsville, VA remember skipping HS to go watch the time trials.

So what exactly do you do for this company? Also looks like you have some crop circles forming!
Those where from feeding round bales . Today we were patrolling pipe line for leaks, unauthorized Construction and our right away for clearing and exposures

They can blame attendance on whatever they want to but across the entire NASCRAP scene attendance appears to be down at every race. I know I am not the only one who just isn't interested in it any more.

I am headed out of town till next week.... but we need to meet there or Ken’s in Amber soon....call me if I forget....
Also we are thinking about some guys going to cross bar on the 25.... of you are interested in meeting up for a one day trip.....
The only problem with meeting for dinner is if you don’t want your wife talking to mine about that one night off cooking deal.... mine doesn’t remember what those days were like....

It’s commie racing, everyone running the exact same car, not a part on them is STOCK.

MUCH rather watch a road course race, bikes or cars. Desert racing and especially boat racing is fun.

Yea, I really have not watched since dale died. I also did not like that a bunch of race tracks were bought so that they date could be taken to another track - North Wilkesboro was a track I loved to go see a race at. Drivers were more down to earth - I remember one interview a couple hours after the race the local news was at Harry Gants house interviewing him while he was roofing. As for why I don’t watch now a days I really can’t say.

I have always loved the NHRA. Been to gobs of races and still have some kin involved in Stock Eliminator racing in Division 4. I do love Unlimited Hydroplane racing. SPEC racing is what I would call it. Same bodies with different decals plus I feel like Toyota bought their way in and didn't even produce a pushrod V-8. I heard they pretty much copied a lot of the MOPAR engine in the beginning.

Yes I noticed that to. When I went 2 years ago, the tkt prices were insane and the campground prices were crazy as well. Your required to pay for the week. We were there 3 days and 4 nights and it cost me over 475$. For that price I can see why most stay home and watch in HD and all different angles in the comfy confines of your home. That said, the spring race has always had the worse attendance due to uncertainty of the weather. When we went last, it was rained out and cold in the low 40’s and didn’t race till Monday that was the second year in a row for a rain out for the spring race.

All of them ran ford 9” for a while till they went modular or whatever they went with.

The hydro and offshore is FUN to watch.

NASCAR was huge here with the Bama Gang in Hueytown and Talladega just 45mins away, Barbers MSP is much better now. Drag racing is more fun to do than watch, like Golf.

I can't watch golf, I went to Talledega 3 or 4 times and the short track at Indy once. Before Dodge got back in NASCAR I pulled for Davey Allison. It's a shame he was taken in his prime.

I noticed that too. Half full maybe. I figured its must just be the night race that's really popular.

Never really cared for the inclusion of Toyota in nascar. There are plenty of world stage motorsports for everyone to compete in.
And they have bought their way into Drag Racing too. It's funny to see on NITRO cars how the spark plug covers/hold downs have Toyota,Chevrolet,Ford on them yet still are Chrysler Based 426 HEMIs. Still have the magnetos at a 45 degree angle driven off of the camshaft like the original. Oil pump still on the lower left side driven by the camshaft.

Maybe you can employ the pioneer in the field? Probably make some good money off it. Then buy yourself an l.e. with the profits!

Yeah...does Cruz still run his Camry...LOL?

That's one of those things that irks me about Ford. A few years back I saw a PR video they did about the "Boss 500". It was the 1st 'truly modern nitro engine", and other outright bulls*** lies typical of Ford.
