I’m glad you’re not trying to build a truck right now either
Been doing some reading on rebuilding a 06 Dodge1 ton front 4WD axel, some of the sites recommend going with the one piece drive line and hub lockers? I'm not going to do the work, but don't want to go in blind on repairs?

They are a all the time front end, with out a selectable hub, so the axles are always turning. So if you have $1200 to burn, and plan on keeping the truck forever. It’s definitely worth it. Not sure of the 2500-3500 series trucks but the 08 5500 truck I have at work would only get 90-120k out of either the axle u-joints or the the axle shaft tube seals, even though I bet they had less than 2000 miles with the truck actually in 4wd. If you plan on keeping the truck for 300k you’ll make your money and time back

That's the idea, and have low 2 WD?

Please forgive me, but I'm ignorant on Dodge 4 WD systems, been real busy with other stuff. So the front axel is turning all the time unless you have lockers on the hubs? And with the front drive line hooked up, it is free wheeling in the transfer case in 2 WD, until 4WD is engaged? Help@CumminsPusher.

Ok that tells me I need a transfer case rebuild and hub lockers to keep this from happening again?
It can still happen but definitely gives much longer service life. Also slightly better mileage and easier to turn. Gives longer tire and suspension/steering life as well. Only downside obviously is you have to turn them in when you want 4wd, however if you leave them in it’s same as you’ve got now. Lockers are the only way to go imho, it’s just easier on everything

Don't even know why I included @CumminsPusher in this conversation, he's so old school, he still has caulk , I knew what he would say! HA!

Is it that or do I just choose simplicity and durability over comfort? Maybe both😉

I just knew you would say that! I'm rusty on 4WD since the mid 80's, every thing was levers back then?
