Currently trying feverishly to prevent it. To a lesser extent for a full year and a half. Our only choice is to rent, and finding rentals with 5 dogs is tough. Have a possible down near Tuscon, but not holding my breath...

I like AZ, CO, UT, and NM. Prob ID too, but wife says too far north and she's sick of cold. I also like MT and WY, but see previous comment.
UT is probably my favorite place on earth, but both it and CO tend to be more expensive. NM and CO are "liberal places" and i don't know how i feel about that. I "know" AZ, and the wonderland of trails here.
It really more about getting back out west, Then in a year or 2 we'll deal with specifics of where we want to live.

My 1st concern when looking for land is moving surface water. That seriously narrows down my areas. There are some places I would move to in Utah in a heartbeat.

I'm kinda scared of large bodies of water, i think. Have nightmares. What else would you expect from a pisces?

After Jaws I could never comfortably swim in the ocean again. Even big murky rivers are the same way. Of course nowadays there are many reports of Bull sharks swimming all the way up the Mississippi river. No thanks! the waters out west are typically crystal clear and more or less shallow. I'm an Aquarium so go figure...Sometimes when I'm out west I like to think I'm in a giant terrarium. Funny thing, I used to swim around gators all the time in Florida. Used to catch them and even got chased out of a nest or two. It never seemed to phase me much back then...
