Is anyone here a licensed ham operator? If so feel free to share your handles and what you use. I haven’t gotten my license yet , but I am building up my collection for when the SHTF and soon will be studying to get my license. Hamtestonline.com
I just scored a bunch of vehicle and home base antennas and some HD Coaxial cable.
for my mobile unit I just got a Yeasu FTM 6000 dual band VHF, UHF radio for my truck/pioneer. I also have a SSB Heathkit HW 32, a Swan 350 Transceiver, a solid state Kenwood HF Transceiver, 6 Baofeng UV-5R’s,
For listening in on world communications I have a Heathkit shortwave HR 10 Receiver and a Philco Trans-World All Transistor battery powered short wave.
And a Gnome Dome…

W8VTN and W8VRD here,
both licensed Generals studying for Extra.
If we can do anything to help just shout.
We run Icom ID4100 D-Star radios in our trucks on Diamond mobile glass mounts, an Icom 820H as a 2m/70cm base station on a Diamond 500X mounted 45 feet up on LMR400 low loss.
Our HF rig is an Icom 7800 running through a Nye Viking 3kw tuner on a G5RV up about 45 -50 feet as well running in a north/south orientation.
Up north we run a Icom V8000 as a 2m base hooked to a discone up 35 feet and a Icom 735 on a tuned 40m doploe up 40 feet.
Our P700-4 has a TYT 8600 on a Signal Stuff flexible BNC mount.
A couple Icom IC91-AD D-Star HTs, a couple Anytone 878 UVII DMR and 6 or 8 various other HT radios.

I 3D print antenna insulators if you need some, we both joined our local HAM club as well as the CERT Team, here is a pic of my father in laws shack (SK).
My buddy and I wore shirts that said I am not W8VR to the Dayton HamFest to stir up conversation with some of his old friends and the people I met and shared stories with was amazing.

We took the CERT class through the local EMA a few years back but the team hasn't been very active in the last few years. There is some money supposed to come from the state again so I think the classes are going to start up before too long. Good program I really enjoyed it.
Never been to Dayton I'd like to go some day.

KB9RVJ (general) and WROY233. I am researching putting my 2M 70mm rigs in my SXS. I am not finished yet and still looking into options that keep the electronics dry(as possible) and minimize the shock traveling in the Smokey Mtns. I am also looking into APRS and redundant GPS systems. It is talking a big chance to be driving in the hills of East Tennessee with only one GPS system.
How can I help?

Oops! Yasue FT 987 for my base unit. Kenwood my SXS handheld. and Wouxon handheld and SXS mobile unit. None of these are digital or presently have APRS. Lot so great hams and (2m & 70c $ GMRS repeaters in East Tennessee if you make it to Windrock or Ride Royal Blue. I also have a Garmin Tread with MURS radio built in. Not sure yet what configuraiton in my SXS will work best for me - still trying to figure that out so for right know I have all the "radio toys". Just not sure if HF is in the plan but being on top of mountains in the Smokes gives you great coverage. Again, what do you need help with? 73.

Ooooh crap my bad, WRQV677 is my GMRS call and we have a packet station at the cabin.
Totally forgot about those.
146.680, pl tone 162.2, normal -.600 offset is the local repeater we hang out on here in Livingston County.
This is our club any licensed ham is more than welcome to check in on our Thursday night net at 20:00 hrs. Echo-link is available to all. Please join in as W8VRD is net control director in the club as well as Treasurer.
We typically hang out on 7.250 or there abouts on HF.
We would rather enjoy joy a QSO with any and all.

You could mount them in a proper sized pelican case with a plate chiller and small pump circulating alcohol to pull heat out.
I built one and rather liked it but in the end decided a waterproof TYT was easier on space, power requirements and my worries of eating an Icom up if it failed for any reason which I will admit it never did.

Is there a good repeater/s to use in the Royal Blue area.
