Hello (Hola) amigos and amigas
I live in south campos San Felipe Baja California Mexico (moved there after retiring). Live on the beach and I have about 50 years of off road experience, starting on dirt bikes, Jeeps, then quads and SxS’s. A lot of my early years were spent in the local deserts east of San Diego riding bikes (my favorite a XR500 Honda). Graduated to quads and started GPS trail rides in Baja (over 11,000 miles down here) Then I bought my 1st SxS……opps!!! An Arctic Cat Prowler 1000, it was fast and extremely unreliable but I punished it down here in Baja. My next SxS was a RZR XP1000 2-seater, I drove that rig a lot and it was a blast except for one major issue….no room for anything, so on to my next rig, a 4-seat Polaris General which I built into an excellent Baja rig. I only put about 5,800 miles on it down here before I blew my first belt. Well the Talons had been out for a few years and I started seeing them down here in Baja, my first thoughts were not very impressive but I met a guy who had one and I got a closer look. Three things impressed me, the reliable Honda engine, the transmission (NO BELT) and the suspension (Fox Live Valve), the rest of the rig needs a few refinements which I’m working on. I’ll be updating you all on those improvements in future posts. When I bought my Talon the dealer had four recent arrivals and they all were sold in one day (mine included) to……people who live in the Baja.
Cheers Baja Charlie
