Nice job slowdryrider. I can see the quality that only goes into building your own custom accessories. It has to be right.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

Got the roof done only my camera batteries need to be charged.I have a couple pics of the latches that are used to keep the window open and keep it closed.I use these in my tractors so I took a pic of one thats in the tractor as it will show up better. The latches are a over center design so in the open and closed position they will either keep the window open or keep it closed. There a very simple design. I'll post some pics tommorro of the roof and the rear window once I get it installed.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

I was able to install the upper rear panel today onto the Pioneer.Yesterday I pop riveted the sliding window into the rear panel here's pics of it installed.I still have to finish the roof, still need to add a bit of sound damping to the part thats not mounted down yet.The lower panel is next on my list to do.I'am going to try and do something a bit different with it due to the fact that in order to adjust the valves ,some of the under seat panels need to be removed.

Its a heavy rubber type of canvas with fiber glass rods built in for stiffener's.It's used specifically on farm equipment,it's used on Swatter tables. It's costs me around $14 - $15 per foot. It's water proof and very durable.

Just ask for swather table canvas.it comes in different widths from 42" to 44 1/2" wide, not sure if there's a 48" wide.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

Worked on the lower panel and have gotten it installed. It's pretty neat how Honda shaped the dump box lever. All I had to do was punch a 1/2" hole into the lower rear panel for the lever to come threw.Whats neat is that because of the shape of the lever as you lift up on it ,it stays in the hole so you don't need any bigger hole then the size of the lever.Next on the list is building the doors.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

Made the lower door post mounts. The mounts are 1/8" flat steel 3" wide by 4 1/4" for the upper mount and 4 5/8" for the lower mount.Drilled holes where needed and bent the mounts.I'll be bolting the door post's to the mounts rather then welding so that I can put the Honda's hinge mount bolts in and remove them if I ever want to put the half doors on again. If I would have welded the post's to the brackets there's no way I could have been able to install and tighten the bolts. Also made the lower post's.The mounts bolt into the same place as the Honda's half doors.Next is to make the upper part of the door post.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

Got the door post's finished.Took a bit of time as they need to be just right. Both post's had to be shaped on the back side to fit around the dash.I had to narrow both of them down right in the bend area.I needed to do this to keep then straight and tight against the fender.Welded in the outer hinge pipes and bolted them in place. Started cutting and bending some of the steel for the door frames.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

Been working on the door's and didn't like what they looked like so I changed them a bit and I'am happy with them how they look and fit now.I have the main frame made, but still have to weld the lower window mount in.I have a piece of wood clamped in the spot were the lower window bar is going to be.I'am making the lower bar even with the top bar,so the window will have a slope look to it.Lots to do yet on the frame, still have to put in all the 3/4" flat bar to mount the weather striping to,need to put all the window mount flat bar in.Will need to make the plate for the slam latch.Have to make the inside grab handle, also the inside door opener handle. So it's going to be awhile yet before I can paint.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

Welded in the 3/4" flat bar, this is where the weather striping is mounted onto.Takes awhile to get it bent, welded and shaped to fit.And of course it's time's 2.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

Welded in the 1/2" x 1/8" flat bar for the window's.Here's pics of that plus I've installed the weather striping to show what it looks like on the doors. With the doors closed they seal up really nice, only place where I'll have to add in some rubber is along the floor and a bit into the side's where the side's have that indent in the plastic.

Re: Homemade cab for the Pioneer

Finally got the door frames finished.By finished I mean that there ready for painting [ no more welding, grinding] Once the paint is on I'll get the glass installed along with the lower canvas. Before painting I still have to make the little fly window frame this way I'll take everything apart and paint it all at once. The slam latch bracket needed a bit extra reinforcing because it wasn't strong enough on it's own.
