Wheelbase on the R versions will be reduced to allow a tighter turning radius and better maneuverability on tight trails

So what did they do? Put less forward sweep in the front a arms and put the X's rack on it? I am googling to find the difference, but not having any luck yet. Putting less forward sweep a arms and a X rack has been a plan for my R, but time and to many other irons in the fire have not allowed it to happen yet.

A guy I race with shortened the WB on his Talon R for the exact reasons Honda stated but his was all done in the rear and the front was left untouched except for an X rack. Must work well because he won the Pro class championship in the Texas Outlaw Series last season.

I would guess your thinking is what they will do. Keep the width the same, but move to the X rack and X wheel position(not pushed forward like R). This would simplify things for them by just having one rack and two widths of front arms. Gains the turning radius but may have more rubbing of larger tires like the X.

… oh and the air box design.
Yep, I hated the OEM air box design but once I snorkeled my Talon, the air box became almost irrelevant. I’m still on the original OEM filter at 9000 miles. Either HondaBob’s snorkel idea or 10-80 sports solve the issue. Details for HondaBob’s idea are linked in my sig, for the curious.

I'm betting their making the R turn better in preparation for a 4 seat R. That way the 4 seater won't need a footbal field to turn around in.
Agree.
I also wonder if the announcement is mis-worded.

Keep the R2 as it is and only the R4 is what sees a shorter WB along with more travel than the X4.

Does anyone know if the 2023 XS LV (2 seater) will be offered in black? I've been trying to track down a 22 to no avail, so thought nbd I'll catch the unchanged 23 for the same price. But according to Honda's website the XS LV will only be offered in blue, where last year it was offered in 3 if not 4 colors. Hoping the website is wrong or just not updated yet (website was the same at first when 22s were announced last year, showed only came in blue). Just seems like a weird step in the wrong direction to offer only one color option after a year where they essentially got very few units to dealers, and seems like the X LV was the rarest of the already rare to find.

Our Product Price List only shows the 2023 LV 2 Seater SX in Blue.

Right in your back yard in Fairfield, IL Lemonds Honda / Yamaha has a Black 1000R live valve in stock. Bought probably 15 atvs from them over the years.

Thanks for the replies guys. I actually worked at LeMonds years ago, maybe we crossed paths over the course of those 15 atvs lol. I went in to see that black R LV as soon as they got it, love the color. I'm committed to the X LV though. I actually passed on the only used 22 I'd ever seen because they were supposedly getting a new one just like it, but I guess that fell through and I'm absolutely kicking myself now. I know it sounds petty to worry about model color but I access a remote property deer hunting and while I don't park next to the stand I'm afraid blue would stick out no matter where I park it. I'd trade someone plastics but the a arms and trailing arms are blue as well and yanking them and paying to have them powder coated on a new machine just sounds irritating lol. I've been trying to trade for a new one for a year now and haven't found one. Frustrated! First world problems as they say 🤣
