For those of you up north. What is your solution for removing road salt from your machines?
What about all over the motor?
See images..

I have already begun replacing many of the bolts and the motor mounts.
Need to figure out what to do about the motor.

Best we've found for our trucks is spraying them with used hydraulic oil before winter. After it took the plow off the pioneer I just power washed and sprayed it down with zep degreaser. Rust is just a fact of life for us.
Bout as good as it gets.

a hot water pressure washer and a degreaser is what I use.

I try to coat stuff in wd-40 or similar. After being coated for a while it should wire brush off. Then I touch up paint. They sell a high temp paint in most colors.

That seems like a lot of rust for 2 winters at most. I wonder if something else happened.

You should try doing a brake job on your daily driver up here, it's 3x the work vs a Southern vehicle.

As others have said, lots of scrubbing and elbow grease. We generally either take preventative measures (Fluid Film is a good one) or just deal with it.

Fluid Film - Its available in spray cans or bulk. I buy it in gallon cans and put it in spray bottles. Spray undersides of plow trucks and works great.

That loos like it will work $$$.
Yeah the dry ice blasting is badass but expensive and you would need to paint. Rust sucks. I try to avoid road riding in winter but I plow a few driveways besides my own so I get some salt on it. Main thing is to hose it off asap, but that's very hard when you don't have a heated garage with drains at home. My 500 got rusted bad. My 1000 isn't too bad yet, but I haven't washed it since before winter so who knows what's creeping in. In your case, at least it won't get any worse. I use fluid film and PFC on vehicles. I used to spray my 500 but it didn't seem to make much difference. If you keep it clean and don't leave mud on it, at least it won't get worse. I guess you could get black dyed PFC to touch up the frame periodically. But the dust will stick to it, and you will have to reapply often to keep the appearance

For me i would use dawn soap.I have seen the results from other stuff and they are great. But they Esch the alumium and are very corrosive.Wire connecters might be a bad thing plugs mostly.Dawn pressure wash let dry and wd 40 works pretty good a friend used this for many years and had good results.Mud comes off pretty good also

I like to pressure wash the big chunks off and do a pre soak with Dawn or real Oxi Clean and pressure wash again.

people from the south wouldn’t believe how much salt and brine is used up here. This is 5 miles after my car wash tonight. There was a threat of 2/10” of ice and 2” of snow yesterday. We got about 1/4” of snow and no ice. They “pretreated” the roads, and today it looked like I was driving down a dirt road with the salt dust being kicked up behind me.
