These tires got my attention because they are rated at 8 ply, and are available in a 28x11 size. Some folks may like the DOT mention.

Unlike the Blackwater Evolution tires from ITP, these turned out a bit under-sized, instead of over-sized, on the outside diameter. At 14 psi, they are around 27.7-inch in diameter. This is just slightly (maybe 0.4”) larger than Honda’s rear OEM BH2s that are sized at 27x11. The Terra Hooks are just shy of 11 inches wide, whereas the OEM BH2s are a bit over 11 inches.

For someone who likes the size and shape of the rear OEM BH2s, but wants an 8-piy rating, this is the closest that there is, this month. Quadboss has some that fit the bill if you’re O.K. with going smaller (0.5 – 0.7 inch) on the outside diameter, compared to the OEM BH2.

@Smitty335 runs those tires, and I will be soon. Fed Ex dropped a set of 30×10-14's off at my house today.

I'm hoping they do just a little better in the slick stuff than the Terrabites while still doing great in rocks, hard pack, and on the highway.

I think they do better than my Black Waters as long as it's not deep mud, the Tera Hooks have more biting edges per foot and I like how the center of the tire has braking and accelerating cup treads and seem to clean out pretty well? Time will tell!
How well do they do in wet clay?

Let us know what these end up measuring out to when on the machine.. and of course how you like them. I think they are a good looking set of tires

I just ordered some 32 inch Terra Hooks for the Talon X4 I'm about to buy. I hope these tires are good. I chose them for three reasons, though they may all prove to be nonsense:

1) They are one of the lightest 32 inch tires I could find. Terra Hooks and Carnivores weigh about the same. Everything else seems to be about 5+ pounds heavier. From everything I've read, the Talon handles 32s okay, but they do rob power. So weight was a primary consideration since I still want the size for ground clearance.

2) They have a tread pattern similar to Bighorn 2.0s. I have Bighorn 2.0s in 27 inch on my Pioneer 500 and they are excellent. Hoping that translates even though the Talon X4 is twice as heavy with four times as much HP.

3) They have a relatively rounded profile. I think the rounded profile will make it generally easier for the machine to handle. This is important since the wheels I'm mounting them on are 4/3 backspacing. I think (hope) the rounded profile reduces negative feedback from the larger offset as compared to a square profile. I am hoping it will reduce or possibly eliminate slight rub that people often report with 32s on the Talon X. The more rounded profile was what put my choice for the Terra Hooks over the Carnivores. I was very much on the fence over which tire.

Time will tell if my logic is correct.

I sure like my Terra Hooks.

Does anyone know if the 28x9x14 and 28x11x14 itp terra hooks have any rubbing issues on a stock p1000-5? Is 28 inches the tallest I can go without a lift?

My 28x11-14 Terra Hooks on 8" rims at 14 psi measured well under 28" O.D. They are within a few tenths of an inch of Honda's 27x11-14 OEM BH2's (which are well over 27" @ 14psi) on the O.D., and several tenths thinner on the section width. No interference problems whatsoever in the rear with stock suspension.
I don't have any Terra Hooks for the front, i.e. no 28x9's, so I can't confirm anything there.

I have 32s on a Talon and they measure true to size. Love these tires. Great grip. Hopefully they fit your application.

You need forward arched a arms on the front to go bigger. expect a little rubbing on a true 28 if you stuff the front or under full turn with stock setup.

I've had mine now for about 2 months, so far I'm very impressed with them. I've been to Windrock twice with them so far and they have done amazing.
Where do you think they do the best and where do they lack. What type of terrain/ conditions? I really like the look of this tire

Their not quite as smooth on road the the Terrabites. They have been great in the rocks and hard pack trails and seem to do a little better in the mud and sloppy trails than the Terrabites did.
