Just opened up the box. The parts have a great finished look and came with detailed instructions. I'll see how it fits later tomorrow night.

Just got home and found the se45. It's packaged well and most of the plastic components have the kfi logo made into them. The winch is black with two stickers on it. It also has some numbers on the front of it engraved. I'm sure one is the serial but not sure on the other unless it's some kind of model number.

Have you had a chance to have a real world buried to the axles retrieval test yet? I am about to decide to click the "take my money" button for the SE45 and would like to hear what you have to say about it.

I used it 7 times yesterday and it worked every time. I had the machine buried to the frame and laying almost completely on its side. I don't have a lot to compare it to but it pulled it out slowly. I don't have a snatch block but I will be getting one.

Sounds like someone has been playing in the mud! What brand/rating of winch did you install?

Just got mine in the mail today. Nice and sturdy looking. My Champion winch will look good on it.

Now, if i just had a Pioneer to put it on...

You can get the KFI straight from KFI. Look on Ebay.

Mounted my Viper 4000 lb winch using my KFI mount. Mounting the winch went very smoothly. Piece of cake - well done mount with proper fit. KUDO"S KFI.. OTOH…..mounting the contacter and routing some wires has proven to be a PITA. Do-able…..but this could be made easy with a little effort on the manufactures part. Maybe EASY-TO-MOUNT electrical parts would help sell your products over a lower price……ya think??

Foggy. Thanks for the update.
The Honda winch kit comes with longer then normal cables and a clamp to mount the contactor.

But you just saved $200 doing it your way. It was well worth the trouble and time for sure.

Well, I got it done…..and everything works like it should. Seems like a neat install. I put the hand-held remote "outlet" up on the cowl above the hood. Hope that works out well. I don't; think you could pay me enough to be a full-time UTV tech/mechanic. Too many confined areas and hard to work-around with some of this stuff. Maybe it's just me…..but the guys that engineer this stuff could make things more user friendly.

FOr example. THey gotta know that folks are gonna put a winch no these machines. How about having a "knock-out" location for the hand held remote? It's not rocket surgery. :D

It's not just Honda……sadly, I think they are all the same. Glad I'm past some of the mounting issues. :)

Thanks Hondasas. Glad I saved some bus…..but it sure beat the heck outta my hands…..and I got pretty surly at the end. Some of those areas are hard to work in. The clamp and longer cables would have saved the day IMO. But $200 is a nice savings. Not sure which I would pick if doing it again….lol.

Reaon I did not mount the contractor under the hood was that I am waiting on a heater…..and I was very concerned that the contractor may interfere with the heater install. My luck…..it woulda been in the wrong location. ;)
