Does anyone know if the L-series rocker switches at OTRattw.net fit in the large rocker switch places on the Pioneer 1000? I'd prefer to put a main aux switch directly into the one remaining top space, and not need to use an adaptor plate.

No. The V and L series are the same sizes relatively, and the V does not fit.
I don't know of any switches outside of the factory ones that do fit.
Thus is why we make and sell adaptors.
Installing our adaptor leaves behind a factor look; you want even notice it.

Not sure if this is the same size as the spare slot on the Talon (next to the headlight switch) but if it is, it's a perfect match.

Thanks, that answers that question. I'll order some adaptors. I just didn't want all my switches in the furthest slots. The slot dimensions given for the L series are larger than for the V series. I thought they might fit.

I have the L's and the the ruggist best switch I've ever had. They don't fit the regular switch. I had to make my own plate for them to fit.
