Just noticed this on my new 2017 it looks like Honda made outlines inside the back of the dash for switch cutouts

if you look up Honda accessory online for installing them they show you the cut out. us a drill about 5/8-3/4 a step bit works great then a dremel bit to finish take you time.

Was able to open cut outs with utility knife blade, just wiggle back and forth for clean square cut.

Welcome from East Texas.
Honda makes an accessory pigtail that plugs in under the dash and gives you 3 or 4 hot leads. It's cheap and a great way to start. There are some threads here that go into more detail.
And definitely safe room for the glove box. I haven't bought one yet but that will be my next mod
