Noisy Rear End

Lol, I mean on my 500. The rear end seems noisy at speed. Anyone else notice this?

Yes. Unfortunately this seems to be the norm. The 700 is the same way. You can here it in many youtube videos as well.

Many have found that changing the gear oil with a higher weight helps quiet it down a good bit.

I put 75-90 Mobil in my rear end. Seemed to help a little. But yes the rear end on my 700 is loud but I have a stereo so I can't hear it anyway.

I've been using lucas 85w-140w in the rear end and it has quieted it down a lot. I do ride in a warmer climate here in Califonia and log most my miles spring through fall... Hence the heavier weight oil. It's only 5w above the 80w hypoid OEM spec at minimum but on long rides and heavy use it seems to not thin out and like the fixed weight oil. With a locked rear end and not tight gear tolerances you'll get some noise especially when the gears are not under load.
