As long as it didn't run out on the ground, it's in your engine. Question, how much oil did you put in an where does it read on the dip stick? And, that's checking the oil according to the procedure in the manual. Warm up, let set, check.

They just tell you not to fill it there because it will give a false level without running the unit. Since the oil level hasn't "settled" it will show fuller then it actually is
