Got my motorhome and Pioneer back to this locarion at 9600 feet northwest of Lake City, CO by driving 14 miles of forest road over a 10,500 pass. Pushed the Mercedes capabilities and ground clearance!

I’m contemplating looking at a system like this to allow for more airflow under the bed inside the camper and definitely reduce condensation issues. Although I’m also considering doing a folding bed to where I could have under the bed storage but if I do that then I probably cannot do the system. Nonetheless, this has become a very ‘hot’ item for Overlanding campers and DIY.

These guys have a really awesome product. Basically a rooftop air conditioner that will run on a battery/ solar system.

I’m contemplating looking at a system like this to allow for more airflow under the bed

I went with a 1" coconut husk mat - it's treated with latex to make it 'modern'.
Looks like the stuffing out of an old horse hair arm chair with out the cost (well, with out some of the cost).

Under pad

And the mattress is a 6" futon with cotton core and wool stuffing.
The new shell has a solid sleeping platform so I figured I needed to do something more than the bed in the cargo trailer.
I don't have any use on this yet (well, took a nap on it the other day), maybe if I piss off the wife enough I'll get my chance.

Futon

The old futon I used in the box trailer was a 4" cotton futon on a slat frame.
While looking for what I wanted to do I read that slat frames want 6" thickness minimum, 8" if it gets constant use.
Probably explains why the old system was a little lacking after a week long trip.
