So swapping to a new cage and started removing the stock one today. Whoever built the drivers side of this car in Japan was using to many Uga Duggas….Seems like every bolt was so tight that the allen would just spin in the bolt and the two 14mm bolts under the fuse panel between the seat, yup, the drivers side was finger loose and just spinning in the captive bolt stripped. Thanks to the easy out got everything out but Jeez….Wish the whole car was like the passenger side. Rant Off 😃

Engine, trans and sub-trans come from Japan. Various parts from vendors in the US, Mexico, Japan, China, etc. Frame and diffs built by Honda in US and all assembled in Timmonsville, SC.

I am surprised that anything is coming from Japan to North America. I thought they moved all small engine production to Thailand.

When I picked mine up, there was a stripped out cage bolt in each cup holder. My guess is the dealership putting them together stripped them, unless they were just double-checking bolts....which I highly doubt, as 75 were scheduled to be picked up the next day (45 the day I picked mine up). *This was before the shortage hit.*

The good old days…when SxS’s were 3-4K below sticker and you could pick from at least 20 options on the floor.

^^truth!^^...and I’m leaning more towards $5-7k more, out the door, than then! I don‘t see how some of the smaller dealerships have managed to stay in business, as they’re (mostly) low on the delivery priority list.

Was thinking about an impact driver as the allen socket was spinning in the bolt.
Die grinder cutting disc cut a straight slot.

hammer impact driver with a slotted screwdriver end.

pitch the honda butter bolts and install something real.

Final assembly is SC. They assemble the parts made elsewhere for the final product.
The Pioneers are built in SC, I don't know about the Talon. But yeah, don't think they are made in Japan.

The over tightened cheap fasteners is a Honda trademark.

Great information. Thanks. Which brand of easyout do you use. How new/old is your Talon. Question - does SC use Loctitte (blue) in their final assembly? Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid you can't blame that on the Japanese, your cage was installed at the dealership, where there is no quality control and some of the guys don't give a damn.
