I live in colorado and do all of my atv riding at 4500' to 10500' elevation, I am wondering if the p500 will have enough power at that elevation? I want to stay with a 50 inch machine.

You should be fine. I have ridden though several passes around Taylor Park with no issues. Even did American Flag Mountain.

Hi,

We purchased our P520 in Glenwood Springs while on vacation. We were staying in Leadville while vacationing. We got to enjoy the new Pioneer for about 3 days in the mountains and passes around Leadville and never noticed any issues with power. Of course, I have no frame of reference since it was brand new and new to me.

I looked at my Gaia GPS app, and it says we started our rides at 10,200 feet above sea level and got just short of 11,000 on a couple of rides.

We weren't loaded down at all, just me and my wife with two dogs in the back and a soft-sided Yeti cooler. I would say just short of 400 total weight.

Might be different now that I added bigger tires and a few more pounds to the P520, but I bet it still does fine.

I can't decide between buying a used low mile p500 or wait for a p520 to show up at the dealership. The engine is a tiny bit larger but a new design or that is what I was told. Has anyone driven both and can one actually feel a difference in power output.

Ride at 8500 ft frequently with passenger and 150lbs of gear. Does a great job. Pioneer 500 by the way.

I live at 6800 ' NW of Trinidad, Co. Most of my usage of the P500 is around the country at Sporting Clays tournaments. Although not previously a fan of single cylinder anything, my P500 has performed notably and that includes with 27" ITP tires that are really closer to 26" diameter. I'll be taking it to north Phoenix next month, and then off hunting locally with it in December.

Having said that, I have a P1000 that is also awesome, and could chose to use either. Trust me, a P500 / P520 will do you right in our part of the world. They are not RZR's.
