Just what I need to make slotted channel brackets for my dump bed mount. Enjoy that beast of a machine!
Exactly.. I could have probably gotten by with less expensive wore out machine for what I’ll mostly do. But I’m 34... in 20-30 years who knows what I’ll be into.

More than once I bought a tool and after one use said “Wish I had this sooner”. And then you find out all the extra things to use it for that you didn’t realize. Buy quality stuff and smile forever.

My shop is a f***ing mess!! I’ve got to clean that f***er up! But I managed to clear a hole for the mill. Got it unloaded and the vfd hooked up and went to turn it on. And nothing... I called the guy and apparently I need to run a couple more wires for the switch. I kept getting this error code

@JTW , would a drill press handle a milling bit? 1/2 inch jaw, 450-2400 rpm.

maybe if you were just plunging straight down into a hole or something , but I would not try cross feeding with it as the spindle in a drill press isn't as heavy as a spindle on a milling machine just my 2 cent's worth. 41 years in tool n die shop.

Thanks, was asking for cutting 6 inch slots in smaller gauge channel on the left of picture. Good to have some diverse expertise here.

if the matl. is thin and you drill a starter hole feed slow and easy you could probably get away with it . raise the drill table up and keep the quill engaged as much as possible to minimize flex.

As they said.. it’s not the best idea. And why I went with a mill vs a press.
I have seen a lot of stuff in drill presses and mills turn into helicopters and go flying across the shop sometimes with body parts as well ( just be carefull and go easy ) hate seeing anyone hurt.
