Lol...was ready to type up a long post...and realized this for P500's. Even among Pioneers, the 700 is now an outcast...

Oh well...

Stuff...
Went metal detecting once in the Pion. Didn't find that lost cache of stagecoach gold rumored to be in the area, but did find some less valuable items, most of which didn't require a metal detector...

And in that part of central AZ, you always find plenty of mine ruins...

Maybe the most interesting thing we ever found was this rock...

...near a very small former flagstone mine. As i mentioned, central AZ is ripe with old tales of buried gold from stagecoach robberies, etc. Obviously, 1986 is a bit too new for the Wells Fargo strongbox...but who knows what some eccentric type buried out in the dez. Took some searching on Google...but finally turned up that there was a mining claim at this spot under this name.
Makes sense, but i had never seen this type of claim marking done. Kinda wish i had taken it with me...but it's still there, waiting for my return.

That was the coolest thing. Not by BF, unfortunately...but apparently, one person started it, and others kept adding on. Inside was like a giant Geocache, decorated with various items being left as a momentos like small stuffed animals and the odd happy meal toy. There was also a notebook where people had signed when the visited. Can't remember the oldest date...

Odd thing was that I/we had ridden within probably 150 yards of this many, many times before i finally decided to take that little off-shoot and ran into it. After that, it was a regular stop when my nieces and nephew were along.

The view out the front "door" is Coleman lake, a wet weather lake near Williams, AZ.
