Hello. I just bought a 2022 520. The nice salesman said to be at 60% for first 25 hours. That is a very long time in my opinion. And the Pioneer is at my vacation home, so not driven that much. It will probably take me 6 months to get 25 hours.
I read 15 miles for the Pioneer as well, which seems more tolerable.
Anyone have knowledge of the process?

Your stealership guy has lost his marbles! It's like some companies saying when u loose power with your Generator even for an hour to call us for a full maintenance. Total BS. I'm a Gen tech btw

Welcome from NW Arkansas! Every new something with a new engine I have ways brought it up the operating temp and let it cool three times and then took it easy and listened for any weird noises for a while, then hammer it!

Welcome!
Mine had 15 mi on it when I got it so I'm assuming it had been test driven a couple times. Brought it home, checked all the fluids, took it to a dirt road and floored it. As stated above, it's a Honda. Keep the fluids clean and topped off, you can't hurt it.

I would agree with heat cycling the engine several times. Don’t forget break in is more than just the piston….all the bearings and gears and clutch also goes through a break in period.

On all 3 of my Pioneer 500's and my 520 I use half throttle and run up to 37 mph in 5th then a big decel. I do that a few times then use 3/4 throttle for a few more cycles. I very the speed and avoid using WOT until I change the oil at around 8 hours and 140 miles. The oil change light comes on at 100 miles. Most will never get 20 hours before 100 miles. I always use 10w30 or 10x40 synthetic motorcycle oil.

Enjoy your new ride guy! My salesman told me the tires needed to be inflated to 20 psi which I questioned and he said the shop mechanics inflate it to that on the 1000 and 17psi on the 700 because that is what it calls for. The thing rode like a brick and I let the air out.

Salesman don't know what they are talking about.
