The 3 stator wires have nothing to do with spark, only charging.

The other 2 wires coming from the stator are the pulse generator or pickup coil. They tell the coil when to fire.

Have you checked the stator wiring to verify it hasn't been damaged by debris, also make sure the connections are tight.
thanks - I wasn't sure if the stator helped the system when firing - so I stand educated!!!

Common misconception

The 3 stator wires (yellow) output AC voltage in pairs that can be measured to verify each leg output is even and not dead if a charging issue appears to exist.

The pulse generator should pulse atleast. 7v DC, but there always higher. You need a peak voltage tester or an ignitionmate analyzer. A digital multimeter can't catch the pulse fast enough
