I just noticed my rear outer cv boot is slinging grease like a monkey slings poo. I have never changed one of these before and was wondering if it was easy or needs to be done by a pro ? Any help would be appreciated.
If it’s slinging grease it may be torn. Clean it up and check it out. A new boot kit is inexpensive. To change it you pull the wheel, remove hub and pull the axle. To replace the outer boot you’re supposed to remove the inner boot also. But there’s a way to remove the outer CV. Just put the axle in a vise and hit the star of the joint with a dull chisel or bar. The joint will pop apart. If you’re decent with tools and have a set of metrics, you can handle it.
