RIP my first axle

Well apparently on my last ride i toasted the outer cv joint on the front axle. Never even heard it or felt it. But it was the one i drove all night with a busted boot and then cleaned and put back together with new boot. So i say farewell to my first 2014 stock axle. onward to a cheapo.

False alarm it kicked the retainer rung out the cup somehow. Guess i didnt seat it good in it. Axle is fine

Yeah i went ahead and changed it but i opened it up and all the balls were just sitting in the boot. Still not sure but it was the one i changed a boot out on and had rode half the night with a busted boot before.

Sounds like you can fix it up for a spare at least.
