I searched but I couldn't find any threads about roof insulation. I was thinking about installing Noico 80mil sound deadening insulation in the roof of my 700-4. Has anyone done this? I was hoping to reduce some of the cab noise. A decibel meter is about $20 on Amazon and I would do a before and after reading if it hasn't already been done.

Regards,
Kevin

No not really. One reason if it gets wet your screwed, and Its not gonna help with noise unless you have a full hard or soft (NoHomo) cab. I tried in other areas of my p1 different types of insulation and was a big waist of time Unfortunately the best way to lighten the noise is to remove the hard top. Depending on when and where u ride thats not the best idea. Or ware some ear plugs or some Walkers game ears.

This'll help.

I’ve got this on my P1K and it works great, is it going to stop all the noise? NO!!! But it helps quit a bit, remember, you’re setting on the motor.
I also agree with @Remington as far as insulation getting wet and making a mess. If your looking for quite you might look into a jeep…

Looking at the pic…is it red? If so that’s the problem. Green ones are noticeably more quiet so you might not need the insulation. They have more power as well, due to the enhanced flux capacitor.

I experimented with this notion back in 2014 or so, but never implemented it fully. I had a large bungee net on the underside of the roof, and we would store coats and blankets...anything soft and light in it. Did kill sound enough that I think it's worthwhile to try. I'd do some of that acoustic foam like they line sound studios with.

As @Remington said, it will eventually need to be replaced due to the elements. I wonder if you could maybe glue Velcro sections to the roof and panels and make it easy to remove?

And as mentioned, @trigger has a solution to stopping the sound long before it reaches the roof, if you don't feel like "rolling your own".
