I installed the Rough Country Bed Extender. It fits well. I am a little disappointed in how thin the paint is. The instructions were very vague. Some of the descriptions and pictures were not totally accurate. In the parts list it shows button head bolts. In the pictures it shows button head bolts. They gave me hex bolts. I would have enjoyed button head bolts for aesthetics.

I had to cut a little of the interior of the bed to clear the bed extender side mounts. I had to slightly cut the bed liner as well.

The instructions want you to use the lower factory cable bolts for this step. I purchased a M8 bolt with nylon lock nut. I liked the fit better.

This is an example of the instructions. You can see in the lower photos the cable is installed on two different sides of the bed extender mount.

These little rubber grommets took me multiple attempts to find the best placement to reduce rattle. I also had to use washers to slightly space the grommets to get them to seat correctly to remove the noise the extender makes while driving. My grommets did not end up where the instructions illustrate.

I did not read or use steps 1-9 in the instructions. I am not sure how accurate they are. They instruct you on the removal of the tailgate. I had previously did the Tailgate Quick Removal Mod so I did not need instruction on removing the tailgate.

Last week I sent an email to Rough Country showing them their instructions indicating the use of 14 buttonhead bolts but what they send with the extender is 14 hex bolts. The repsonse I got was they would ship out replacement bolts immediately. I put the extender together anyways without the buttonhead bolts and used the hex bolts that came with the extender. I got my package in the mail this morning and opened it up. They sent me 9 hex bolts in a bag :/

This is kind of dissapointing. I sent them another message.

@Robobrainiac does the Rough Country bed extender rattle much since you have installed it? I am thinking about getting one and was just curious how noisy it was after having it for awhile. Thanks!

It is noisey but I have figured out ways to make it manageable. I shimmed the provided rubber stoppers and messed with different placements of them to reduce it.

I then used an outdoor weather foam tape on areas that mated and it basically reduced the rattle to nothing. I got the tape from menards and I thought it was gorilla brand. It was 1/8" thick maybe 2" wide. I do not have the packaging to it anymore and I cannot locate the product on their website.

Thanks for the reply Robobraniac!
You're welcome. We have put it to good use so far this entire week while riding around. If time permits tomorrow I will try to get some pictures of the space it provides.
