Shift boot DIY

Prototyped a dust/heat boot for the Talon shifter. It is made from some cordua type fabric and is held in place with neodymium magnets. This is untested as of yet but I think it will work. It’s not impeding movement at all I’m not sure if those magnets will hold I may have to glue it in place. I’m not much of a seamstress so I didn’t bother to taper the sides in at the point.

If anyone wants to try making one I just traced a Stanley framing square for the triangle shape the rectangles are 7.5” by 4”

I really dislike the dust and hot air so we’ll see how this works.

I've been contemplating a boot also. Haven't begun testing yet though. It's only in my head still!

I have a 100 miles on my prototype and I am completely satisfied the magnets are holding perfectly and I have zero air or dust passing through. When I get around to it I’m going to see the magnets into a fold of the fabric and add Velcro to the bottom so it can be removed easily.

That sounds pretty cool. The Talon market is wide open for innovation! RZR market is super saturated and has been for a while so I avoid trying to sell directly to those guys on forums. Switched my focus to the underserviced Honda market, which still has limited products.

I actually have a cad model for a Talon part that I am very interested in getting a manufacturing quote for. Nothing like it on the market yet so maybe I can be the first.

Good luck with your prototype development and possible production. It only takes one successful product to solve a problem and make a mint in the process.

This could be the start of a full package of dirt / heat stoppers for all the many large holes in the Talon ;-)

This notice reminded me so let you know that this weekend I make a couple of pieces to close off some of the holes behind the passenger seat. I'll have to take a pic to share.
