Smoke smell and heat

Just brought home our new Pioneer 1000-5. It has 1 hour on it. Took it for an easy rip around the property, maybe 5 minutes. As soon as I started it up I noticed it smelled hot. As I drove, I could feel it was hot and smelled almost like burning plastic. When I parked it in the shop and turned it off, it was smoking quite a bit from the exhaust for 5-10 minutes. Hoping this is just the "newness".

Thats exactly what it is, some type of corrosion prevention they put on the exhaust.

Welcome! It takes a couple hours of driving to burn off the oil that is on all the exhaust pipes. Most tubing and pipe comes with this coating that is there to protect it from rust.

New heaters in your house do the same thing.
