I've been thinking about a snorkel lately. I'm not sure which way I would go if I built one and I'm looking for advice.

1. Do I really need snorkel? I don't plan on going headlight deep but it may happen on accident.

2. Another reason would be to avoid splashing water going into the intake.

3. I like this style pictured below but I don't want to hack the front fender up.

There's enough room to route an intake hose behind the fender and come up on the passenger side. The hacking would be notching the fender under the hood a little bit and then drilling a hole in the fender for the pipe to come up.

I would rather take the pipe straight up from the OEM location and hack the hood since it can be replaced cheaper and obviously easier.

Another option would be to come up from the air box behind the seat but room is tight and I don't want the intake noise.

For now, I'm not going to do anything but I would like to start a conversation so we can throw some ideas out.

Another benefit of the snorkel-top pictured above would be cool air vs the OEM is behind the radiator. Also, the intake could face forward for a ram effect and spun backwards before water entry.

Hey hows it going? I snorkeled mine using the stock setup underneath the hood. You do have to cut alittle piece of the fender but it is not noticable under the hood. I then removed the cup holder on the passenger side and came up threw that and went to the roof. You can hear the intake doing it this way but it doesn't bother me. The nice part about it is you can put it back to stock fairly easy and quickly if needed.

Thanks for the feedback. Could you possibly provide a couple pics?

Where did you find that tip? Whats the name if it?

If you're talking about the snorkel top, I just searched Amazon for "snorkel top"

Sweet. Thanks for the time you took to post those @aquatic1998. Really looks like a good route and frees up more under the hood.
Thanks.

I like it I never thought about doing it like that. I wonder how that will work with the windshield. I think that's a pretty sweet setup though for sure. Was worth the wait for the pics for sure.

Thanks guys, I used 2 in pipe that you can get almost any home improvement store. If I had to do it again I would use 2.5 in instead. As far as the time it took it really wasn't to bad , about 2 hrs plus dry time for painting. The best part about doing it this way is you can put it back to stock in a matter of a couple minutes. As far a the windshield is concerned the snorkel pipe is on the inside of the front roll cage bar. Shouldn't be a issue at all .

How loud is it while riding with it mounted there? Did it rob any power with it pulling air the extra couple feet?

You can hear it for sure, really doesn't bother me. I normally have my radio cranked up so I really don't hear it . As far as power lose I didn't notice any, but I snorkeled it the day I got it so couldnt really tell you. I can say I hit 66 mph the other day.
