Likely bad advice and borderline condescending. Gotta defer to the other guys on this one.
Didn’t mean anything condescending. One foot on the brake, start giving gas and release brake. No different then a car.

New rider here- P10006- Question about going up hills, here's the scenario:

Going up a steep hill. STOP on hill for random reason, but then I want to keep going up the hill. Unfortunately I am rolling backwards. How can I continue going forward without frying gears, transmissions, etc?

Do I just ease into the gas as I'm rolling backward?

2024 Honda Pioneer 1000-6 has a Hill Start Assist (HSA) button on the dash that allows the driver to temporarily apply brakeforce while moving their foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator. This helps prevent the vehicle from rolling back after stopping on an ascent

@CP - Right on, much appreciated and ... More importantly, I went out this evening and executed the two foot gas/brake combo to perfection. Great advice. HSA would be nice, but this'll do fine.

On a side note, this machine is incredible. My Polaris buddies are already trying to figure out how they can sell their rigs and get a Pioneer.

I’ll specifically add get the clutch fully engaged on these P1K’s asap. If the wheels aren’t turning and you are on the gas you are slipping the clutch. As you stated you’re familiar with driving a manual transmission I won’t bother to explain that further. A manual transmission is effectively what you have in this machine though. The clutch engagement is just electronically controlled instead of by a user controlled clutch pedal. I believe the consensus is something around 3 mph is fully engaged. (Tire sizes/gearing changes/etc not factored in)

Ultimately though if the tires don’t move when you apply the throttle/skinny pedal/gas pedal … stop and pull a winch line. Your clutch pack will live longer.

I'll take who's never driven an manual transmission for $1000 Alex.

Who is the @chadley2301

But as already stated many times, hold position with brake while applying gas then let off brake to go forward.

I would never use the two feet method others mentioned here because someone will say, you drive like a women. When letting off the brake just try to hit the gas faster, like drag racing. Doing this will put you into launch mode. From there you should be able to clear the trees at the top of the hill. If there's trees at the top of the hill. If not you'll here a loud plunk as you roll farther backwards.
