I'd like input from you guys on this question:

What is the one thing that you would like to see changed about the Talon engine air filter system?

I'm trying to decide what direction to go with future intake products and which manufacturers I need to rope in on those projects.

Thanks for the input. I know you guys will help. Keep the answers realistic and on topic. Monday I have to decide how to proceed with one future product.

You plan on messing with the clean side and filter ? My input is don’t touch it unless there are measurable HP gains. I’m a little risk adverse when it comes to the clean side if there is nothing to gain since it’s a solid design with a solid filter. Your pre filter setup solves the life/cost of the filter issue - not much to add after that.

Another question is did everyone like the R2C filter that was washable? When I was selling R2C I sold more of the talon filters than all others combined. It appeared to me that the talon guys were liking their filter concept. That’s of course until they made some bad ones that failed. And the fact that they were crappy personnel to deal with.

I have an opportunity to work with a filter company on a talon replacement filter that would be better than the R2C filter. They are open to developing a new filter and seem to understand what I want in the filter. They have industrial, synthetic, washable media cable of 0.1 micron particle filtration. That is AMAZING! I would like it to be a direct replacement for the OEM filter with no air box mods. And they are in the US.

This is something I’d want for my talon. Feedback please.

That would be worth considering, still your pre-filter solution would be relevant for longer service intervals in dusty conditions.

That’s kinda what I’m thinking.
Bundle the new air filter with the prefilter kit.
I looked into (and still haven’t ruled out) a completely new intake. This would allow for generating more horsepower because the PPEI guys can dyno and provide advice. But it’s a lot of parts to source!

There will never be a substantial gain on hp without changing the trumpet tubes that feed the throttle bodies. That’s the limiting factor. Same without turbo. These N/A engines are maxed out in stock trim.

My main question is related more to maintenance not so much for performance gains.

After watching the R2C disaster, I'm not willing to change out the stock Talon filter (or airbox). With a snorkel kit like yours 👍 and an oiled Uni foam pod filter as the prefilter (because yours wasn't available yet), I got 16k miles on the stock filter. I have a new filter to put in now, just cuz and I'll do that before I head back to Utah. With a filtered snorkel, the $50 stock filter cost is negligible.

a new oem filter is $40 bucks, WORKS and works well, combined with your pre-filter kit, that main filter goes a long time - so not sure there is a big advantage unless the new filter is $10? and comes with your kit for some customers.

I would not be willing to save a buck or spend more on a different filter. A washable filter would be iof no interest either to myself.

if it ain’t broke don’t fix it kinda thing for me.

Sorry to say , but me for one would be hard to convince to try a full replacement for the OEM air filter. But I may be swayed after a few others have tried it first.

1080's quaility or reputation is NOT why I have some apprehension!!!!

In their defense, the R2C filter media was good. The failures they had were unfortunately with the Talon filter due to not fully testing the filter flange for durability.

I'm not dealing with R2C on this filter.
