Yesterday we put money down on a new Talon X and will be picking it up after Christmas. We currently have a Mule FXT Pro which we are keeping as a work machine. Of course it rides like a Caddy (big soft and a lot of body roll). We used to have a Pioneer 500 and used it as our trail machine. My wife asked me a question that I didn't have an answer to - How does the Talon X ride compared to the Pioneer 500? ( We also have owned an RZR4-900 at one point and both a 660 and 700 Rhino back in the day and she is really interested in how it will ride compared to the 500 for some reason.- was the most recent I guess). Our use will be trail riding, no jumping or anything like that. Basically just cruising the trails with friends and climbing average rocky hills here in WV. What have you all noticed or found?

That bad huh. -guess it has to be stiff for jumping and reducing body roll.

these are designed for spirited driving, as such need to be able to handle the larger bumps without damage. so it's a little stiff.
lots of people are happy with Shock therapy, and some are happy with Weller raving spring kit, you can also just order springs from eibach.

We used the P500 on the trails and never really paid much attention to the ride so if the Talon is "Better" I doubt we will mid the factory settings. I was thinking it maybe rougher than the P500

Definately not rougher....lol. There really is no comparison between the 2. After you get a few miles on the Talon you may start to notice the harshness on slow speed bumps but when coming off a P5 is seems very plush. I've found that the harder you push the T1Kx through the rough stuff the better it feels.

Thanks - The P500 is our last trail machine and she recalls the ride so it is an easy thing to compare to. I am really anxious to get the machine and try it out. May have to order some tender springs at some point if it seems a bit too rough....

I did a 4 hr trail ride in my P5 today with a passenger , came back ,hopped in the Talon and it is WAY WAY WAY smoother . I have added Bandit tension springs but still . Bone stock the X is a Cadillac comparing it to the P5

Ended up going to Logan Motorcycle sales. They were about a 750-1000 less than everyone else around here. Tried all over the place and either the price was too high or they didn't have a Red one. I went with the 2019 to get the little bit better price.

Yep - not too hard to find a Talon around this area. Seems most have a few. I did find a couple that only have R's in stock - they don't seem to be selling as well down here in WV.

Seems to be opposite in the Buckeye state. Per dealer talk anyways. Would be nice to know the honest #'s of which is selling more of. Just
curiosity.

Interesting, I guess it is pretty dependent on the area. Around us everything is really tight and most my local trails the X should fit better. I know Huntington had a R sitting that was loaded up and he mentioned they would deal a lot on it. I just want the smaller turning radius of the X more than anything but I truly have to say you cant go wrong with either the X or R.

i don't agree, my P1k3 is way smoother than my talon. but it all depends on the type of terrain your driving in i guess.
