currently have the MU9H stock tires which are great for a variety of terrains but where I live and ride the most, they are susceptible to punctures. I live in the Rockies, there is a lot of high desert here and very sharp rocks on the trails. I just want to keep my factory rims and maybe go up to 30’s. So I am looking for a tire that will still get me through the dunes but not take punctures because the tires are something just short of paddles. Can anyone give me suggestions? Obviously weight is an issue so they would need to be lighter but still have some ply. TIA

For what its worth i have 31” Carnivors on stockers on my X. I like them so far. As for punctures, I think its just the chance u take. Where Ive had good luck, some haven't.

I have the 30" STI Chicane RX 8 plies on mine right now. I beat the living crap out of them in Arizona, Utah and finally here in Colorado. AZ and CO's rocks are brutal and I was amazed that I never had a flat. HOWEVER, I'll be lucky to get 5k miles out of all 6 of them, they're about done. 😢

I run goodyear authorities (i run four) from Walmart, i think they were $110. About 5000 miles id, az,co and ut. agree on the rocks-no flats, do have some non critical side wall cuts, still about 70%. Did 2000 miles on the stock ones, they're about 50%
