I bought my bike used, it came with 27 in tires and wheels.
I want to maintenance the breaks and bearings, remove rear sway , etc.

Problem is all my sockets are to thick to fit into the narrow space between the wheel and lug nuts.
Is this common with aftermarket wheels?

I guess now I got hunt down a special socket but not sure where to turn to to find the correct socket.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

PS
Got my 3500lb superwinch installed piece o cake It came with a remote control and synthetic rope, too cool

Yes. This common with the 12mm studs.
There are 3 solutions.
- Buy a few thin wall scokets. Be sure to throw one in your glove box.
-buy a set of 14mm scoket slim lugs
- or buy the spline lugs with the special socket. Try not to leave it at home when you need it the most (Ya, I done that before).

Thanks.

As for finding a thin wall 17mm socket. Try different socket sets. Cheaper sets tend to use thinner walls.

just pick up a longer than standard thin wall socket, mine is a craftsman from Sears. That and a cordless impact wrench and the tires and wheels are off in no time.

Hey thank you all for the replies. I'll look for it on Amazon. I just think is crazy any normal socket, even a thick impact can access the lug nuts. Crazy.
