I replaced my big ole mig and tig machines with a Miller 215. Planning moving in the next couple years and they were just too big to bother with. Those little Millers are sweet machines.

I want to learn to weld aluminum next. How you like the spool gun? I’m currently using the 110 side going to run 220 into the garage very soon.

Been eyeing up the Forney Easy Weld 140 FC-i for about a month now, like $225 at home depot. 2 days ago, GF sez to me "Hey hun, I got this $50 HD gift card in the mail can you use it for anything?" 😍
Just waiting for it to show up on my doorstep now.

Spool gun is a Nice addition & works great.
Use 110 for light welding & 220 for thicker material. ( Aluminum or Steel )
Aluminum welding requires a little different technique ( Do some serious Reading ) and practice until your happy with your welds.
NOT that difficult to pickup the technique ( MUST BE CLEAN ) for Good Welds.

Some day hope to have a good one but for now a cheap Harbor Freight ($699 on sale) mig/tig/stick 110/220 welder only limitation is the users skill. love the flux core for thin metal hope to get some shielding gas one day to make cleaner welds. You all make me jealous with your welding ability. I can manage to get things back together but not a welder by any stretch, grew up in a plumbing/HVAC family still good at that.

Yes, I picked up a set of extra consumables through Amazon at check out for $20 is so. As long as you have clean dry hair and you keep the tip from dragging on the torch your consumables will last much longer.
Well, Damn
I'm bald. I'll never be able to run a cheap Plasma.

I was gifted with a Miller 252 and I love LOVE it.

I’ve been eyeing a Miller 211 welder. I don’t anything to fancy just weld as a hobby and tinker mostly. Well wouldn’t you know. After 10 years with my used when I bought it Lincoln 3200 weld pak. She stopped working today. I’m deep in a project and since I’ve been looking anyways. I pulled the trigger. Little more than I wanted to spend. I’ll tell you what this thing is nice.
What kind of small weld you running and the setup?

Nice setup!! I got a Hobart handler 210. I also got the spool gun for aluminum welding. I used to flux core weld the steel but recently switched over to Argon/CO2 for steel and love it.

I have an old Century 145 that I bought at the local Sam's Club back when it first opened like 1989. It's a 220V shielding gas MIG but not a suitcase welder, nor a full size, kind of in-between. Rolls around on the floor with the gas bottle on the back of it. I've used it for welding together truck axles to body-work sheet metal. Just change torch tips and wire size! I've also found that a good quality alloy 0.23" wire welds sheet metal very nice! Don't buy the stuff at Lowe's or TSC, find the local welding supply and ask which wire they sell to body shops the most.

Friend of mine bought one of those Miller's that can run off 110 or 220, shielding gas or flux and has the dials labeled for what you are welding, not infinite adjustment, just turn to what metal and thickness and it auto-tunes itself. First time I used it I was impressed how nice the weld looked for just pulling the trigger the first time.

I know this thread is old, happened to see it while searching for trail welders. The first post is eerily familiar.
I had a lincoln weldpak I used for 25 years, then picked up a miller 211... wow... never dream it could be so smooth.

Lincoln 225 "hot box"
Lincoln weldpak 100
Miller dynasty 200
Miller Dialarc HF 300A
Miller spectrum 375
Miller spot welder (forget the model)

All of these I was able to pick up for little to nothing. Couple needed actual repairs, and voltage jumper configuration.

This is what I am looking at now. When we moved last I donated a cargo trailer containing 90% of my shop tools including two nice Miller welders (MIG and TIG) to the local high school auto shop. Now of course I am wishing I kept one, especially since prices have gone way up.

I've had an Everlast Lightning MTS275 (Mig/Tig/Stick) on my list of things to get for awhile now. It's no Team Red or Blue, but they get great reviews and it'll do everything that I could ever need. I also believe, at least the last time I looked, that it is the only multi process machine that will do both AC and DC Tig.

Anyone have any experience with them?

I know this is from earlier in the year, but I'm in the market, so I'll dig it back up.

I also believe, at least the last time I looked, that it is the only multi process machine that will do both AC and DC Tig.

My brother (professional/career welder and runs mobile welding business on the side) says I need to spend the cash and get the Miller Multimatic 220 ACDC multiprocess welder. It does both AC and DC TIG, as well as MIG and DC stick.

I just can't bring myself to drop ~$4500 on something that won't be used on a daily basis. But ... I want AC TIG for aluminum AND I want to be able to fine-tune settings and not be limited (e.g., adjust pre or post flow, etc). All of which means you have to spend some coin.

I could go with separate boxes for MIG/stick and AC TIG and not have to invest an arm and a leg (I've only got one of the latter left).

I know HF gets a bad rap on a lot of stuff, but both their Vulcan and Titanium stuff is at a great price point and is better fit for the DIY/hobby/garage user. Only a 90 day warranty, but the 1 yr and 2 yr warranties are an option (couple hundred bucks each).

MIG/stick:
Vulcan OMNIPRO 220 MP (on sale next week for ($949, which is only $50 more than the Vulcan MIGMax 215)
Titanium Unlimited 200 MP (on sale now for $700)

TIG:
Vulcan ProTIG 215 (AC/DC)
Titanium TIG 200 (AC/DC)

Any experience with these and/or other MP or standalone MIG and AC TIG that don't break the bank?

Check this out. I've never heard of this brand but looks great for the price. And it has a plasma cutter. I'm thinking about getting one when I get my shop built

Spend once, cry once. I bought my Miller Syncrowave 250 in 1993, long before there were any hobby TIGs available. I've NEVER BEEN SORRY that I spent the money, it's the coolest tool in my shop. 😍 Nope, you won't use it every day but you'll never have to make excuses for its performance. Awesome tools aren't an expense, they're a lifetime investment.

I did come across that one. I'm wanting a unit that does AC TIG. This one only does DC TIG.

That's usually what I do, @CID. But $5K for a DIY/hobby use multi process welder is a damn big chunk of change, especially when I'm gonna have to start spending 5x as much money per year on high impact trail permits to get TripleC ... err ... @TripleB to stop his whining.

Though, I personally can’t take credit for the welding, that was accomplished by a very good friend.
