Ill edumacate you 😂
We have plants (Ford, Gm & Chrysler) Im sure ill miss a few, in Flint, Saginaw, Rosenville, Saline, Lansing, Willow Run, Milan, Flat rock, Dearborn and Wayne to name a small few. The only Plant anywhere near and closest Detroit is the Warren assembly plant that Makes all Ram trucks. For the record, Wayne assembly makes the Ford F-150 and is In a suburb of the city. Reason this is cuz the City is a $hithole unless you are in the Sports arena areas that have been gutted and rebuilt nicely in recent years. The RenCen is the silver tube looking tower you see on the Detroit river in the city in many photos and video shots during professional games. That is GM headquarters. Ford headquarters is in Dearborn (another suburb) as is there R&D with hundreds of buildings and home of the Ford Ruge plant that makes the Mustang and a few others. Chrysler has there headquarters in Auburn Hills 60 miles north of the City. Been there many times when I worked at Roush. Side note: At one point when things were normal there over a hundred years ago, Ford, Packard, GM had plants in the city.
There Proving grounds is a whole other thing. I live just over an hr from the city, an Hr and 25 min to be exact. But Im roughly 10 miles down the road on the same rd as the Chrysler proving grounds. GM is in Milford 45 min from me and North west of the city, and Fords is near the salfige area 1hr north of the city in the middle of noware near the air force base lol.
Ill also add, a big Toyota R&D and small proving grounds is located in Milan 15 miles south of The Peoples Socialist Republic of Ann Arbor where my co is located.
As For my family, yes many of them work or have worked for the big 3 and if you live in the area, you have a family of some sort that most likely have as well. Very Blue collar and proud hard workers. Mine have worked or still do at Rosenville (Ford) Sline (Ford) willow run (when it was Ford, Now GM and some still there) and Wayne assembly (Ford) Have close friends that work at the Chrysler proving grounds down the road and a few at Ford Headquarters in design and engineering in Dearborn. Many of my customers also work at these places in some capacity or another.
Now hopefully you have a better understanding of us and where many Big 3 cars and trucks are designed and made and its Not necessarily in city of Detroit
