In this video at about 4:40 you see a talon with tires turned into a muddy bank and one front tire off the ground. Free tire is spinning and the other is not?
Is this a low speed issue with I4Wd?

Oh s*** here comes a debate
There is nothing to "debate". We know very little about the situation. They never show any more than that and never show the machine again in the video. Did it break? Does the machine have a lot of miles and the brake pads are gone? Does he have one foot on the gas and the other on the brake? Did he blow the i4WD fuse? Were there any warning lights on? Is the Talon just that shutty in the mud?

So far, mine works flawless and I have never had anything like that happen to me but I try to avoid mud. However, there are rumors that sand "confuses" the system and that is pure BS. I have 2000 miles on mine and 1500 in sand and my i4WD has never been "confused". Rock crawling is also no problem for my Talon. It just works!

If mine ever does anything like in that video, I will surely document it and find out why.

The Talon race team runs the factory i4WD and brake system. When I asked, Jeff Proctor said they are not having any issues with it and gave me a couple of hints to make i4Wd work its best...
  1. Avoid pressing the brakes and the gas at the same time. Your foot on the brake pedal will fight with the actuator motor and it will not work correctly.
  2. Make sure your brake pads are still good, apparently mud is real hard on the Talon pads but dirt and sand are not. There may be some brass pads available for those that only mud (you are not supposed to use brass in anything other than mud for some reason).
  3. Try bleeding your brakes! Although the pedal felt good and solid, they discovered that the brakes needed bleeding and found even the slightest amount of air in the system will cause the i4WD to not work its best. Jeff said after bleeding the brakes on the race Talons, the i4WD reacted much faster and transferred more power to the traction tire. Any air in the system will take the actuator motor more time to compress and have less pressure causing the non-traction to spin more than it should.

Not trying to start a debate, just wondering if this is normal in slick mud trails like that. Really want to be happy with the next $20K I spend!
I have not had the chance to ride with any Talons yet other than last year Roundup.

For every 1,000 undocumented successful mud climbs by a Talon, you will find one fail video (and this vid is incomplete to boot). That machine had an issue or the driver had a brain fart or didn't know not to apply the brake and gas at the same time, stop worrying and enjoy your machine.

PaulF so what you are saying after 3-4 replies is that is not normal..
That's really all I wanted to know as I have not got to watch any Talons in person much at all.
If that was normal, then I would be concerned with that trait where I ride.

Your post makes me want to go fishing using the big motor to keep my lure moving through the water.

There have been thousand of Talons sold, if this was "normal" you would see videos like that every day. Haters will jump on here and try to say ALL Talons are like this and i4Wd is s***.

You will notice that most of those haters don't even own a Talon so take anything they have to say and throw it out the window!

Oh I know you weren’t by any means you were just asking a question. Some of us have different opinions and when this comes up it sometimes comes into a pissing match. That’s all I was meaning.
I myself have been trying to stay out a little and I’ll just say when it comes time I think the Talon overall will be the best choice of the sports for myself.

If that works, have at it!
I did almost loose my favorite pole once when I switched from the trolling motor to the 5hp gamefisher and a catfish hit the line left in the water at bout the same time. Gotta learn to fish some how,

I understand, Took the son into Tackett creek couple weekends ago with Delton, Riverrat and Firemedic. He could not believe how well the Pioneers did and he knows I have been looking at Talons. We went and looked at the 4 seat live valve and the dealer was putting together a 2 seat live valve.
He went today and looked at the Kawi. Impressive as it seems, there are a few things I was trying to point out to him i thought were cheaply finished, and came upon this video...
