Honda doesn’t have an oil factory I don’t believe... Someone makes it for them. I don’t buy into the Honda oil is better because Honda sais it is. I have used conventional and synthetic over the years and haven’t had an oil related problem, nor do I know anyone that has... I am swapping to synthetic on my next oil change just for the heck of it, and Walmart has valvoline syn for like 6 bucks a quart... But I don’t believe conventional would be on the market if it wasn’t quality enough to go in engines and not cause problems... Plus I don’t like the dealer close to me!

Also I was running Mobil 1 syn in our murano, and it was using about 1.5 quarts in 5000 miles. Switched to super tech synthetic from Walmart and it uses none now! Not a drop... now I use it in my truck too...

Another thing... I know a guy with the first year rincon 650 whatever it is... 2005 maybe??? Well he drown his out the first month he got it and he never changed the oil... EVER... He still uses it at deer camp... He said the oil was milky when he drowned it out 13 or so years ago! LOL Honda ftw!!!

I've used either GN4 or Castrol M/C oil for years in my ATV's, JD lawn mower & the motorcycles.

A few years back, I switched to Mobil 1 in the Hayabusa and was amazed at the improvement.. it shifted WAY better. I change the oil in the Busa at the same time I replace the tires, which averages around 2300-2600 miles. Oil is cheap insurance.

I think I'm going to research syth for the Pioneer too.

can see by the pic why you change tires as much looks like fun.
im not going to spend any more than what the valvoline cost, it works great in all my quads ive put a bunch of miles on it, tore it apart a few times, trans broke when i was hammering on the 650 and a bbk, they have valve wear issues with the cam, never had those either

I used Valvoline for years in my truck and car. I also used Valvoline filters. Then a report came out in the 80s about the lack of quality with Valvoline products and I changed. I wish I could find that report. I kept it for awhile and now have no idea where it went. But I do know that Valvoline does not do that well with wear tests.

Black stone is about the best lab for oil... Here’s what they say... Every oil is tested for wear quality. You can’t just sell crap oil and stay in business...

I always have more tread in the center after 2500 miles than on the sides. Might as well have a little fun before I pull 'em off. :)

Dang.. didn't realize that pic was so old!

exactly what im saying, honda oil is nothing special that your engine actually needs. neither is mobil 1 or any of the double cost oils. really boil down to the cost, i wouldnt buy walmart stuff i dont think but i have talked to some old experienced mechanics and they always say buy one major brand and stay with it. my wife and i put about 40-60 k on our cars for the last 20 years, she commutes locally and up until last year i worked a number places out of state, i always get gm v6 cars, 3-4 years old for both of us because they are simple and reliable, and a standrard pushrod 6 will live forever on normal valvoline i can get at walmart for 15-18 bucks. all of the cars, i change at 5k and i drive them to 300 or so before trading it in. all of them had the same or better mileage sat the end and no wear failures

this is really why i tryied the atv valvoline in the first place, you can get it was 4 forever but this year went to a little less than 5. when i had two quads and the rhino it was easier to just buy one thing thats good for all of them. really makes a difference for some people if the oil is twice as much
