Where are the paddle shifter switches located?

My upshift paddle quit working yesterday, JAH. 😢 (the downshift paddle works and it still shifts automatically)

I’m guessing that the switch is located right at the base of the paddle, just in front of the steering wheel? Do the wires plug in right at the switch or does it have pigtails that plug in somewhere else? What type of connector: spade/bullet/other? Are there two wires per switch or one (short to ground)?

I put this in General because it pertains to any Honda paddle shifter but I have a 2021 Talon R with 10,500 miles.

Any tips or ideas to make my life easier are appreciated.

Sent from the desert, just south of Ajo, Arizona - even us ole guys gotta luv technology. 😍 Since the buggy still works in Auto and today is my last day before heading home, this isn’t mission critical but it made me realize how much I use the Up paddle to short shift (a whole damn bunch).

There is a sub harness with 2 micro switches in the lower part.

The micro switches can get something jammed behind the arm and stop working. A quick check may get it working again without needing to R&R it.

Dammit, Honda; get yer sh!t together.

Seriously, .008" of an inch!!!

This thing isn't meant to be replaced, access was difficult at best and I broke 3 plastic fasteners getting it out (you can see one on the harness, upper right). Another was on the plug itself, I had to hammer it off the frame tab. Hopefully, those parts will be on the new harness (~$27).

Watch for this bearing on the bottom of the paddle, it's spring loaded and I have no idea how I'll get it back in. Rethinking this, I don't think the paddles have to be removed, the switches are held by a tiny single phillips (JIS) screw coming in from the bottom.

Since the two switches are an assembly, both paddles have to be removed (probably not true 🤔).

This is after I broke the plug off the frame tab. It would NOT slide off.

This is the release tab on the plug, a pair of pliers did the job, squeezing it in and allowing me to pull at the same time.
