This is a longer, faster paced ride: yes?
No, this is not a fast pace ride, very rocky and slow. It's only a little over 10 miles to the cave from Coalmont OHV parking lot. Fastest I've done it is under just under 2.5 hours (one way). It's normally a 7-8 hour ride there and back with a decent sized group. Once you get outside Coalmont park, it's mostly river beds your riding in. February, March and April there will likely be quite a bit of water in the creeks and some may be very deep/swift.

There's also an alternate way to the cave. I've never been in this way, but you can park at Coppinger Cove Baptist church ($5 to park) and I hear it's only 1-1.5 hours to the cave.

I think the trails from the OHV park route would be more fun, we never made it to the cave but the trails were good

Anyone know of places to stay nearby Coalmont other than the campground. Weather right now isn't very appealing for camping 🥶
