P1000 Wide spool vs standard?

I was looking at the Viper Elite 4500 winch for my 1000-5. I don't know anything about winches. What's the difference between the standard vs the wide spool? Can I even run a wide spool with a stock bumper? Is a 4500 big enough for most use? I read that the honda mount works best, is that still true?

Yes ,
Viper elite widespools will fit your rig no problem.
It's 65ft of winch line v.s. 40 to 55.
4500 is large enough. I bought an Elite widespool 6000 pound because the cost was not to different.
Use Vipers mount for about 50 bucks. No install issues.
Buy on Hondasxs.com store at a discount this weekend.

There are optimal angles.
Not too sure straight out is desirable.
When I binge searched before buying mine, it seems the prescribed angle was like a 1/2" in lower than the fair lead hawse.
I could be wrong but my viper with motoalliance ' mount works just right.

Yes, You will need a mount.
The best deal is the 4500 elite winch. Its cheaper than the 3000lb.
Both elite's include a wireless remote but ONLY the widespool has the flush rocker switch.

As for wide vs standard... That's your decision. Wide holds more rope than standard. So I ask you.. How far away is that tree you need to winch to? If out west you need wide spool. If on the east coast a standard spool may do.

@Hondasxs, have you considered selling neoprene winch covers? I'd like to find one for my Superwinch Terra45. Superwinch discontinued their cover and everything I've read indicates that the SuperATV cover is too small.

Not really.
I like the idea. Build a universal one with a draw string or something. No bungie cord inside....

I will add this to my list but I'm not really working on addational product until I get my shop finished. Ya, I'm running out of space. Lol.

The viper elite wide spool also comes with a winch cover.

The pre wired, flush mounted rocker switch can be bought as an accessory if you choose a model without one.

Has anyone had to modify their Viper mount? Mine doesn't want to sit flat against the frame. Theres a welded bracket on top, and the front diff mount on the bottom.
