Does anyone know if the P500 will easily tow a Harbor Freight towable backhoe easily?

Here is a link:

I am wondering if the P500 will easily tow one of these through the woods, and up and down hills?

Any thoughts and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

It should really depends on the terrain. You plan on taking it up but its 1200 lb shipping weight.

Shipping weight is 1,234 pounds and max tow rating is less than that. I’d guess it would be less than ideal on hills and probably something you’d want the beefier after market hitch for even on the flat.

Has disaster written all over it, after you get into position! Maybe sand trenching?

How so?

I’ve had mine for 5 plus years. Dug a lot of water line with it and pulled out a lot of stumps. Neighbor even dug his own foundation with it.

Is it slow? Yes it is, but it goes areas that a mini ex won’t go without tearing up a bunch of crap.

Moves are one lever at a time.

It’s not that hard of a machine to move either, and pulls easy.

The tongue weight is maybe 150 lbs with the boom pulled all the way in.

It’s not as macho as a backhoe but it it’s a fine machine that beats the crap out of a shovel.

You won't have a bit of trouble. I used to pull a commercial 48" zero turn on a 6x10 trailer back and forth down the road. Did that several times and that's a LOT more weight for sure. If you do go faster than 5 or 10 mph, make sure you compensate for the brakes. When I was pulling heavy, it took more pressure on the brake pedal and more distance to stop.

It says it can be pulled by an ATV in the product description in the link you provided.

The machine is a copy of a Mantis Excavator. My dad has had one for many years and it is an excellent little machine. Folds up to about 30 inches wide and can be push by hand to get through gates and other tight spots. I can't speak for the HF version though. We pulled it all over the place with a 1985 Suzuki lt125 quad, stopping was the only issue lol. You'll have no trouble with moving it around with the P500. I also agree, waaaay better than a shovel!

Here’s what I what I pulled out with my digger today. I’ve done way bigger, it just takes a bit longer.

12” pine and a 16” pine stumps from trees I cut last fall.

Took about 3 hrs from start to leveling the holes back. Goes much faster if they aren’t nearly as fresh as these were.
