Hello, I have so many Yamaha machines that I use the yamalube 10w-40 in. Just wondering if it would be ok to use in my 500 since this is my first and only Honda. I'm plowing snow with it and its gotten pretty cold this year, below zero. See any issues using it?

Nice, didn't think there should be any issue, both are dino and wet clutch compatible. I would even guess there isn't much difference between them, besides the yamalube being considerably cheaper.

My dealer doesn’t have Honda oil by bulk so they use Yamalube for all oil changes. Kind of irritating but it’s got all the same ratings

Am I missing something? I thought the P5 called for 10w30. Not that it really matters I guess but I typically use what the machine calls for.

It does call for 10w30. Went to Honda dealer for filter and oil for P5 when I did the first service, noticed later he gave me Gen40 so I looked up the specs, there's not much difference. I did get 30w for second service though.

Gotcha, I just saw 10w30 when I looked at the manual but I didn’t look at the temperature chart and that’s where I’m guessing the 10w40 is. If it where air cooled I’d see a real benefit but since it’s liquid cooled I’m not sure I would gain anything by running heavier oil.
