What size board is everyone using as a tailgate for the Honda cargo tray? I measured it needing a 2x4 47.5 to 48 inches long. I always mess up things before I get them right, so anyone go through it already?

I bought my tray from a really cool member here and he gave me a divider he built. Lucky for you I was in the garage when I saw your post. His divider fits perfect so I measured it

The ends of the boards aren't perfectly square so start longer and trim as needed

I cut mine at 46.75", and rounded the bottom corners with a belt sander. It fits snugly, but is still fairly easy to remove.

Here is what I did start to finish with lots of pictures. Started with a 4x4 ft piece of 5/8 Plywood at Lowes

Got my tailgate done... 46.75 inches is bout perfect. I cut it 47" first and that would not fit. Painted it black but I think that's gonna rub off pretty easy, so I will probably end up pressure washing it off and herculining it. I like the 2x4 though.

Looks good. Have thought about Herculining mine, but decided to just use it "as is". I used a treated 2"x4", and it it has obtained a "weathered" look that appeals to me. Ha! I really like the cargo tray. It has been much more durable and serviceable than I had originally thought.

Mines treated too. I think that's why the paint isn't going to work. The specs on the wood said wait 60 days minimum to paint. I bought an 8 ft board so I put the other half on the back porch in the sun to "age".

Welcome to the club! I hope you enjoy your new P500. I love mine. Been everything I hoped for, and more. I bought mine in a "package deal" when I bought the P500. I purchased the roof, windshield, doors, rear cab enclosure, and cargo tray for about $1,600. The list price was on the Honda website at the time. I am on an island in the north Pacific, so I wanted something that I knew would fit. I chose OEM accessories, so there would be no surprises. Over a year, and 3,000 miles, later, things are still going strong.
