After watching all of you guys put together some great Talons, I decided I needed to give it a try.

My previous 2018 Pioneer project was challenging for me, and I couldn't have done it without the help I got from the members of this forum.
I didn't do a build thread for the Pioneer (and in retrospect I wish I had), so I decided I should do one for the Talon, even if it was posted a few month late.

In August of 2022 I put a deposit down at my local Honda dealer and waited and waited and waited.....December 2022 rolled around and the dealer still could not give a date when he'd have my machine. So I got my $500 deposit back and went shopping on ATV Trader for a new 2022 Talon X4. Two days later, Rod's Powersports in Roca, Nebraska sent me pictures of one he had in his warehouse, new with 6 miles on the odometer. Looked kinda dusty for new....It was the model and color I wanted so I told him I wanted it.

A few days and 525 miles later we picked it up. Dealer prep & cleaned up good

Back in the shop at home and begin modifications....

It will take me a while to sort thru my pictures to post the build in somewhat chronological order.
More pix to come

Put the talon up on the rhino ramps to work on the inferno heater installation.
Removed the Honda "skidplate" in preparation for a future Factory UTV skidplate and rockslider installation.
Got the under chassis plumbing in place

I liked how the Inferno heater mounted under the hood. Pretty good access for the ductwork install

Got the Samsung tablet moved over from the Pioneer. Installed an 8 gang Auxbeam switch panel for accessory control. Also installed a number of Ram mounts for cellphones, etc.

I opted for the Honda OEM lower doors. Its some finicky work cutting and grinding the upper door panels to install the lower panels. I was glad I purchased a 1" belt sander. It made quick work of the modifications need to attach the lower panels

After getting opinions from forum members, I went with CEC softsides for the Talon.
They fit well. The zippers appear to be extremely heavy duty and should hold up well.
Sure hated to drill holes in the doors for the snaps, but after the first one I got over that.

After a month of vacation on the Texas gulf coast, it was time to get back to work on the Talon
Installed the front A arm and trailing arm skidplates from Factory UTV. They fit real nice.

With some help from my neighbor, got the Dirt Road Fabrication bed exiender installed.
What a well-built accessory this unit is.
I ordered it with the optional fuel tank mount plate, the expanded metal bottom, and the low tire mount.
Shipped in a shipping blanket wrapped with stretch wrap.
Made the journey from Utah without even a scratch.

On our last club ride in December, one of the guys cooked his lunch in a 'MuffPot" strapped to his exhaust pipe
It worked so well I figured I needed one too
Its large enough to heat up a couple of burgers, or four hotdogs.

When I was installing the hoses for the Inferno heater under the chassis, I noticed a large open area under the pasenger seat, and thought that would be a great place for a second battery. Had some scrap aluminum angle in the shop and fabbed up a battery frame to bolt between the frame tubing under the seat.

Removed the OEM poor-excuse-for-a-bumper and installed a Bosman Bumper

What a big improvement, and should be able to bolt up a Badlands Apex 5500# winch to it.

I got around to installing the Badlands 5500 lb long spool winch today. Its a tight fit, so I removed the bumper to install the winch.

The Bosman bumper has the appropriate mounting holes so no mounting plates or modifications are necessary. Just bolt it up.

I was working today without help, so I found using a floor jack was handy for installing the assembly. A second set of hands would have made the project easier.

I installed a plastic panel for the winch contactor and other electrical components under the front cowling.

I used C clamps and a heat gun to make the bend.

Finished the installation of the Factory UTV skid plate and rock sliders.

I ordered the 1/2" UHMW kit with the 6061T6 aluminum reinforced rear skid

I found using a ratchet strap was useful in persuading the formed UHMW parts into place to get the fasteners in place in each component before tightening everything up.

I enlarged the center hole in some of the dished washers to facilitate alignment. The finished product looks good.

The rock sliders should protect the sides well.

Purchased a 5th Terrabite and mounted on one of the OEM wheels as a spare

The OEM Halogen lights don’t put out enough light, so I added a 12" light bar. It mounted up nice on the Bosman bumper.
