Has anyone been able to install a silencer without a lot of modifications to the P5?

Papa, welcome to the community. Take a look around and don't be afraid to ask if you have a question.

As for a silencer. Haven't seen one for a P5 yet. But with hunting season coming fast I'm sure one of the manufactures will have one shortly. Until then, modifications will have to me made.

Have one ordered and when installed will tell and show how it installed and performs. Stealth Silencer with adapter to bolt on to machine.

I put a silencer on this weekend. Seems to work good. Only had about a half mile on my machine but felt it needed some silencing. Found a site on the web where a DIY was made for the Honda Foreman so decided to give it a try myself. Actually was a fun little job. Ordered a Walker 22022 tractor muffler. Theres many others that look the same. Should cost you around 25-35 bucks delivered. Used a couple of copper 1 inch 90 degree fittings, a little steel, threaded rod, clamps, paint and powder coating. The hardest part was forming the inlet and outlet around the copper fittings. I cut extra slits and let the 1 1/8-1 1/4 muffler clamps do the work. The outlet is .880 I.D. I made it an easy take off and install.

That looks really good! How well did it reduce the noise?

I wish I could spend more time on this project, but I have way too many projects in the works. Anybody have plans to transport a jet boat and a P5 on the same trailer? Haul the P5 sideways. Hmmmm....need to start today on that.
Anyway, the silencer is built to come off completely in less than 5 minutes. The amount of silencing is adjustable. In stock form it is choking down the exhaust about 15% and I do not know if this could lead to damage to the engine. The original Honda exhaust is a little over an inch, which seems small to me. Seemed to me that it killed the "Throaty" sound, but my hearing is not the greatest any more. The silencer may have merit....or it could be a waste. Hopefully someone here on the forum will try one themselves. I have included two more pictures for anyone wishing to build this little silencer.

Had a chance to try out the silencer with the thick wall reducing ring and at an I.D. of .785 the P5 ran very quiet. I am quite happy with the results as long as it is not harmful to the engine. It seemed to have about the same power, but that was on a paved level road.
