I'm definitely getting that shelf. I'm just brainstorming for other options. I'm getting a heater so won't have the under seat storage. I'd really like to get the five seater but don't know if I can justify the additional cost just for somewhere to store vice grips, fence pliers, staples, and insulators.
I'm going to be very tempted to saw into the 1000-3 box but was hoping someone else had first.
I'm also really on the fence with a 1000-5 but want the option that gives me the best cab.
In a perfect world I'd get a -5 box on a -3 machine but sounds like that would not be a feasible project. Just more to think about while I set on the waiting list.
You can always do some Milwaukee packouts for your tools like I have and many others
In either a P1K3 or P1K5

I put a cargo net in the roof area of the rear of the pioneer as well for storage.

The one time you get your friends in the back seat and cruise it will all be worth it!

Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions. You guys have given me a lot to think about.
I'm just excited to get my hands on a pioneer 1000 and see what they are all about. We've had lots of sxs on our ranch and I'm still searching for the one that has everything we need. I have seen 1 big red, 3 gators, and 8 rangers over the past 15 years. I've been left wanting something better after each time. Maybe this will be the ticket. Time will tell

I might add this to the roof of mine. Great idea. Can you show me a picture of how you've mounted your axe. What else is stored in the bungee? Are you still happy with it?

I am happy with the net. I realized it interferes a little with the factory mid panel. I was able to make it work tho. The axe head is just securely held into a cubby space towards the front and has a thread with thumb screw and pin thru the handle on the back. It doesn't move. I had to drill a hold in the plate on the pioneer for the pin.
