Do you mean from driving through water that deep? Or water and mud being slung up from the tires? If coming off the tires then I recommend some mudbuster fenders.

I thought about making my own, but didn't get around to it. After receiving the Mudbusters, I'm glad I went that way and avoided the hassle of making my own.

Mud Busters XL will stop most

The MudBuster fender flares come with self drilling sheet metal screws to fasten the very rear of the flares to the frame. I decided I'd rather mount them with rivet nuts, which I installed first into the frame. Shown below, I've made two 5mm threaded points (used the excess threaded length cut from the door storage mod ball ends. The taken to a point using a drill motor to gently hold the threaded shaft against a grinder). Next the fender flare forward mounts are secured and then the flare is smacked gently up with a mallet or similar so the threaded point will precisely mark where to drill the hole for the attach bolts.
