P1000m3 17,000 Mile Report

Still runs like new. Replaced a shift cable and exhaust mount rubber a bit before 12,000 miles. So far about $30.00 in parts. My YXZ is also over 17,000 miles and had a few failures. The Talon should set a new standard in performance and reliability. At lunch today a guy asked why I had a little motorcycle in the back. I told him My Polaris and Yamaha broke and I had to ride it out a few times.
He said but Hondas don't break.

Got some great riding here in Arizona. Did 110 miles yesterday and 103 today. Going to the mountains for some snow riding after tomorrows ride. I average over 19 mph and its going to be faster with the talon.

I hope I can get to that many miles with no trouble. Be nice to be able to ride too. Here in ky its 33° and misting snow all day.

This is AMAZING! So glad to see people with more miles than me to help me feel good about my purchase, and let me know what repairs they've made. The most miles I've saw is 16,000 on a 450 foreman and 23,000 on a 250 Suzuki quadrunner that looked like a new machine. An old man rode it through the local Mtns every day on his land at like 10mph. Both of those were prob a decade ago now. How many ball joints have you replaced? Is the steering still tight?

17,481 miles now and 901 hours. Can't tell it from a new one. Everything is tight and it runs and shifts just like new. Many dealers won't take high mileage side by sides on trade in. That is more then 3,000 to 4,000 miles. Hondas are the exception but they have to be clean and in good running condition.

That's amazing it still feels and operates as new, I'm looking forward to that! Have you stayed with stock size tires and a all terrain radial?

Do a national search on ATV trader for used Pioneers, a few with 9,000 miles+ and more then you'd think with 5K + being sold by dealers and they are'nt asking much less then new!!!

I had a set of 28 inch tires for about 9,000 miles. I did the clutch oil update at around 10,000. I would have over 34,000 miles but I bought a 2016 Yamaha YXZ and have over 17,100 miles on it. I will have over 10,000 miles on my Talon by the end of the year.

That's amazing and i thought I rode quite a bit! I guess these machines have up'd the annie with the expected lifespan, and resale of used units vs the 4wheelers of old days

I ride 5 to 6 days a week and have been retired for 23 years. We have thousands miles of trails and sand wash here in Arizona. I ride up north in the summertime. I sold my last Quad last year and gave up Motorcycles and Mt Bikes a few years ago. I'm too old to get hurt and can't have any fun just putting around. Last year we agreed to keep the speed under 50. I did one fast ride with my Turbo Buddy, we kept it under 75 and did 198 miles that day. Some of us never grow up and I still have the need for speed.

That is awesome Bob! I definitely envy how much riding time you get! You should be a company tester! I hope to start riding more and more with this family ride to be able to take everyone with me!

I may have put 10 miles on my p1k since purchase. Not that I don't use it, I just don't get to use it for long rides as it does yard work with me. I wonder how my machine will hold up with high hours and low miles, Vs high miles and low hours.
