I have a 2014 Honda pioneer 700-4. While I was putting it in gear I heard a snap. Drive shaft is turning out of the transfer case. Appears that u-joint or splines on main drive shaft are broken or stripped. Drive shaft is not turning out of the rubber boot. How do I go about tearing it apart? Thanks
Rear? There is a u joint under that CV looking boot right out of the engine.
The rear diff has to be unbolted and moved back. One of the lower arm pivots has to come loose the clear the long bolt for the diff, but the axles can stay in place. The rear brake caliper and bracket also have to come off.
After all that, you can slide the diff back enough to remove the shaft. The diff end collar has a spring that keeps pressure on the shaft. The shaft can be hard to get out of the u joint or collars, and there are o rings to seal the splines.
