2019 Pionner 1000-5 Limp Mode Cold weather

Hey guys so anyone else have this issue, right now i cant use my unit in the cold seems like anything under 0 deg , engine light comes on and goes into limp mode barely drags its own weight back to shop, let it heat up and its good? any ideas ? Thanks

i wouldn't move my truck at 0 degrees without it warming up a bit lol. i would say the ecm wants the dct and engine to warm up a bit before it moves .

Has to warm up, engine and DCT are extremely dependent on correct oil pressures. Viscosity changes so much at low temps, DCT and engine will not get correct oil flow.

Just let it warm up to normal temps.

Heat up as in outside temperature or machine heating up?

So it's the outside temperature effecting the machine and not the operating temperature? I'm just trying to clarify so someone may be able to help u with your problem.

Correct it’s the outside temperature when it gets below 0 deg Celsius outside machine goes into limp mode

So even when u let it idle and get it up to temp it still goes into limp mode?

I highly doubt temperature is the real culprit.

I run the wheels off mine in the winter plowing snow in -15F all the time without a heated shop. I might let it idle for 30s before getting to work. Ran 10w40 Gn4 all winter too.

I would start with cleaning out your fuel tank...could have water in it. Check your air box, maf, etc.

I agree its not the outside temp. Something is up with the machine.

Need more details about what improved the situation if anything.

Wouldn't be water in the gas freezing? May need some heat or ethanol fuel? I had trouble with my 700 in the cold winter, but never any trouble with my 1000 last winter. I usually run non ethanol fuel but in the winter I add a little heat, which I'm sure defeats the purpose of the non ethanol fuel, but I was worried about the fuel freezing.

I had an issue opposite of yours. At the time my new 2016 Pioneer 1000 would go into limp mode during hot weather. The problem was a defective PGM FI Unit p/n 38770- HL4 - A13. Honda replaced the computer . That was around 500 miles , I’m at 9000 miles now and no more problems.

i ran mine all winter,stored in an unheated shop,sometimes as low as -35 c. without any issues and used 10-40 gn4.

I wonder if the seatbelt is bypassed. If so, maybe that is being being affected by the cold.
